On October 9, 2023, blogger Abdukodir Muminov, held in detention centre, was sent to a punishment cell for 10 days, being accused of «violating the internal rules of the correctional facility». The announcement came after he appealed to President Shavkat Mirziyoyev during the appeal trial and spoke about the torture he had been subjected to. The prison administration stated that Abdukodir Muminov had violated the internal rules of the detention centre long before the appeal court, on September 20, but for some unknown reason he was put in the punishment cell only now. The formal reason for the placement in the punishment cell was the blogger’s refusal to shave off his beard and insulting the staff of the detention center.
