On January 9, Simon Zakharov, member of the Council of Elders of Alaverdi, filed a lawsuit against ABC Media LLC with the Yerevan Court of General Jurisdiction demanding public refutation of the information considered as libel and payment of monetary compensation. The reason for the lawsuit was the report published on December 13, 2023, on the website abcmedia.am owned by the mentioned LLC, according to which, Zakharov took control over the activities of the Council of Elders and, being a locksmith by education, he started performing surgeries in Alaverdi medical centre after a year of re-qualification. Moreover, in 2014, he was able to buy a land plot in the city, on the bank of the river, by the decision of the Council of Elders for only AMD 13,000 (about USD 35). The lawsuit is in the process of consideration.
