The Jambyl district court found Abay Dzhundibaev guilty under Part 2 of Article 130 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan (libel) and sentenced him to one year of conditional imprisonment. Akim of the district Beibit Nigmatullaev asked to bring the villager to criminal liability. According to the official, «Dzhundibaev slandered and insulted» him by publishing a video on November 2, 2019 on YouTube, in which he accused the official of illegal felling of elm trees after buying a building in the village. As the akim told Radio Azattyk reporter, after the posts were published on the social network, «the competent authorities ran an inspection and found nothing (illegal)».
