Batmakan Zholbolduyeva was charged under several articles of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic: «Causing death by negligence», «Violation of privacy», «Hooliganism» and «Document forgery» (in terms of using a knowingly forged document — 24.kg note). The day before her death, journalist Arzygul Galymbetova posted a video on her Facebook page stating that bloggers Batmakan Zholbolduyeva and Roza Mamanova had allegedly put a curse on her and wanted her dead. However, as lawyer Nazgul Suyunbayeva told the media, the examination showed «that [the journalist] died of heart failure due to asthma». Zholbolduyeva was arrested on March 28, 2022, and taken to the temporary detention center, then transferred by decision of the regional court to pre-trial detention center № 53 of Jalal-Abad.
