The Petropavlovsk-based news portal 7152.kz reported that public servants are forced to repair the houses of IDPs, improve the territory, and dig vegetable gardens instead of performing their direct duties. A correspondent of the newspaper discovered it when he went to the home of one of the displaced families in the village of Astrakhanka in the Akkayin District of Northern Kazakhstan. As soon as the story was published, the editorial office began receiving calls from the district akimat and the Department of Internal Policy, demanding that the story be removed. Under pressure of the officials, the media removed the article, although it had been republished by other media outlets by that time.
