Saltanat Atusheva (the widow of murdered opposition politician Altynbek Sarsenbayev) reported to Inge Imanbay, the editor-in-chief of the newspaper Zhas Alash, that a criminal case was opened on a close relative of the Sarsenbaev family, and they threatened that they would close it only if a certain condition was met – removal of Imanbay from the position of editor-in-chief. The reason is that the journalist is the spouse of Janbolat Mamay (head of the initiative group to create the Democratic Party of Kazakhstan. On February 24, Inga Imanbay announced she was leaving the publication.
