On March 28, blogger and civil activist Diaz Moldalimov was detained and taken to the Almaty Police Department in connection with a pre-trial investigation into the dissemination of knowingly false information during the state of emergency (Article 274 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan). The investigator asked Diaz to voluntarily testify against himself, but he exercised his constitutional right and refused. The entire interrogation took almost five hours. The reason for the persecution was a video message in which Moldalimov criticised actions of the authorities during quarantine. The video was published on his YouTube account on March 27.
