On the 22nd February, journalist Indira Kakimova, representative of the investigative journalism agency “Vitas” and freelance reporter for “Channel 31”, was detained by police officers in Ust-Kamenogorsk right in front of the entrance to her own house, as she was heading to report on a series of events dedicated to problems around organising protests. “By the entrance to my house two police officers were waiting for me, and they demanded that I drove to the station with them. They grabbed my phone, did not answer my questions about the reasons for my detention, did not present any summons, held me at the station for over six hours, despite my warning that they were interfering with my professional activities”, said Indira Kakimova. The journalist was questioned on her social media activities and on her opinions about the responsibilities of police officers.
