The Ministry of Health in Kyrgyzstan filed a lawsuit against a newspaper, accusing the publication of bringing a ministry official into disrepute and harming her reputation, after an investigation by the organisation’s journalists about inflated prices on medicines and contraband medicinal equipment. Bishkek’s Pervomaysky District Court partially upheld the lawsuit and obliged the newspaper to pay 50 thousands som ($800) compensation for moral damage, as well as publish a retraction.
