The journalist Ayzirek Imanalieva was covering a feminist protest against rape and for women’s rights in Bishkek on the 8th March 2020. During an attack on protesters by a group of nationalists, police officers arrested some of those present, including Imanalieva. She and others were taken to a local police station and released an hour later, without explaining a reason for the detention.
