Romanova was called for interrogation with investigating authorities as a witness to a criminal case about fake news surrounding coronavirus (Article 207.1 of the Criminal Code). The lawyer sent the investigators a notice, informing them that his client lives abroad. The case was brought in connection to a publication on the site zekovnet.ru, claiming that a note talks of 30 ill prisoners in a penal colony in Novgorod Oblast. The publication was subsequently deleted from the website.
