The Abakan City Court satisfied the lawsuit of Roskomnadzor to liquidate the media outlet Novy Focus. In early September, its editor-in-chief Mikhail Afanasyev was sentenced to five and a half years of jail under an article on «military fakes». Another reason for the lawsuit to close the media outlet was the fine imposed on Novy Focus in December 2022 for five texts about Yegor Zhukov’s case, allegedly inciting hatred and hostility.
