On March 8, Tyurkan Bashirova, the employee of the radio station Voice of America, was detained by police officers during an action in the centre of Baku. According to the journalist, the police officers inflicted painful blows on her. Ismail Tagiyev, the employee of the news portal abzas.org, was also subjected to violent treatment during the mentioned action.
