The Shcherbinsky District Court of Moscow has deprived Marina Ovsyannikova of parental rights to her two children — her 17-year-old son and 11-year-old daughter, who now lives with her in Paris. The lawsuit was filed by Ovsyannikova’s ex-husband, Russia Today employee Igor Ovsyannikov. He had earlier obtained a court ruling that the children must live with him and the journalist must pay child support. In 2022, Ovsyannikova escaped house arrest in the «military fakes» case. On October 4, 2023, she was sentenced in absentia to 8.5 years in a penal colony.
