On September 1, Ak Zhaiyk correspondent Anastasia Sherstyankina was contacted by phone by the press secretary of the Atyrau Regional Police Department. She said that the article «Traffic accident that ’didn’t happen’» published on the media outlet’s website on August 31 libeled and defamed the police. According to Sherstyankina, the press secretary threatened to file a lawsuit for this and said the case would be criminal in nature.
