Police came to the home of Newgrodno.by editor-in-chief to conduct an “inspection of the premises”. The Grodno Department of Internal Affairs explained that “during online monitoring, materials considered to be extremist were found on the Hrodna.life and Newgrodno.by websites”. This was due to material from the NEXTA (which is considered to be an “extremist organisation”) Telegram featuring on the websites. During the search, the journalist's computer was confiscated. An administrative case was opened under Article 17.11 of the Administrative Code (“distribution, production or storage of material containing calls for extremist activities).
