Siranush Abelyan filed a lawsuit in the Yerevan Court of General Jurisdiction against the executive director of Politcom.am, Lilit Silanyan, demanding an apology for libel as well as a public refutation. Suren Surenyan, who runs the website, said the reason for the lawsuit was a publication detailing Armenian citizens complaining about the terms of loans provided by one of the banks. The plaintiff, an employee of the bank, expressed disagreement with the citizens’ complaint, after which the publication was deleted. The editors expressed their readiness to represent the bank’s position, but Siranush Abelyan did not agree, and went to court. The claim is pending.
