The apartment of Konstantin Khalin, deputy editor-in-chief of the Saratov-based news portal Vzglyad-Info, was searched by law enforcers in a criminal case of libel (Article 128.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). The police followed Khalin for two days, knocking on the doors of his and his neighbours’ flats. The case was initiated at the request of Anton Skorokhodov from Saratov, the brother of a federal judge with connections in the prosecutor’s office. The reason was information spread in an anonymous Telegram channel. Vzglyad-Info links the investigative actions to a publication about the region’s first deputy prosecutor Iosif Mineyev: the article said that his wife was using her official car to take her daughter to kindergarten.
