The editorial office of KazTAG acted as a co-defendant in court on the lawsuit of ex-majilisman Serik Konakbayev against I. Abdukarimov on the protection of honor and business reputation, in which the plaintiff demanded to recognise the disseminated information as false. The lawsuit was filed in connection with the publication, which quoted Abdukarimov’s appeal to the President. Abdukarimov stated that he did not address the editorial office and did not give an interview, but the editorial office presented an audio recording confirming the address. The court partially satisfied Konakbayev’s claims only against the KazTAG editorial board, rejecting them against Abdukarimov, citing his right to appeal to the President. On April 5, the appellate panel reversed the decision of the court of first instance in terms of satisfying the claims against KazTAG. In the rest part, the court decision was left unchanged.
