The Chairman of the Committee for Silk Breeding Development Bakhrom Sharipov filed a lawsuit against Kun.uz and the journalist Shokir Sharipov. The website published the article «Silk Network of a government official. Has the sphere become a private shop?» about the fact that the official may be connected with companies in the silk farming sphere. The article points to a possible conflict of interest given that Bakhrom Sharipov heads the committee that regulates the industry. The civil servant demanded a retraction, an apology and compensation of UZS 1 billion (USD 86,000). He withdrew the lawsuit two days later. The press service of the Supreme Court of Uzbekistan said a hearing will be held. The court will consider Bakhrom Sharipov’s second complaint.
