On the night of January 25, an unknown person cut the hose of the split-system outdoor unit of independent Turkmen journalist Soltan Achilova. Achilova and her disabled son live on the ground floor of an apartment building in the Parahat-7 neighbourhood of Ashgabat. At 1:50 AM, they woke up to noise outside and, looking out the window, saw a man running away in a yellow waistcoat worn by employees of the capital’s public utility service. In the morning, Achilova called the neighbourhood police officer three times, but he did not answer. Later, Achilova filed a complaint with the police station of the Berkararlyk district of Ashgabat.
