Businessman Oktay Abuzarov filed a lawsuit against the editor-in-chief of the news website Demokrat.az Vasif Hasanli. The plaintiff believes that several articles posted on the website damage his reputation. The businessman demanded to fine the journalist AZN 50,000 under of the Civil Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan (protection of honor, dignity, and business reputation). Earlier, the businessman had already filed a lawsuit against the journalist under Article 147 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan (libel) and asked to have him arrested. However, the court rejected the complaint.
