On September 21, 2022, in Simferopol, the Supreme Court of Crimea announced the verdict in the criminal case against the first deputy chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people Nariman Dzhelyalov, civil journalist Asan Akhtemov, and his brother Aziz Akhtemov. The court found them guilty of committing sabotage on the gas pipeline in the village of Perevalnoye, as well as smuggling and storage of explosives. Asan Akhtemov was sentenced to 15 years of imprisonment in a strict regime colony. He will also have to pay a fine of RUB 500,000.
