On May 9, near the railway station Sanain of Alaverdi town of the Lori region, TV host of the TV company Shant Armine Chagharyan, who together with her colleagues was shooting video on the Debed River, fell from the raft into the water. The unconscious girl was carried away by the current. Despite all efforts of doctors, Chagharyan’s life could not be saved. A criminal case has been opened over the journalist’s death under Part 2 of Article 157 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia — violation of technical safety rules.
