The Sovetsky District Court of Minsk sentenced sports journalist, blogger and football player Aliaksandr Ivulin to two years of prison. He was accused of organizing actions that grossly violate public order, or active participation in them. According to the charges, on August 23 and September 27, 2020, Ivulin, together with other protesters, moved along the roadway, blocking the path of cars, and did not respond to police demands. He also posted videos on the YouTube channel ChestnOK «of an inflammatory nature in order to create a negative assessment of the incumbent authorities and to discredit the political and social situation in the country». According to the prosecutor’s office, this led to the organisation of a group of people who participated in protests between August 2020 and March 2021. Minsktrans also sued Ivulin for BYN 39,000 (USD 15,088) for damage for stopping traffic during the protests. Ivulin was detained on June 3, 2021.
