On the morning of April 12, an attempt was made to detain journalist Lukpan Akhmedyarov as he was driving through the city. Men in black who wore masks jumped out of a car that was blocking the journalist’s vehicle and tried to open the door of his car but they failed. After brief attempts to open the car, the people drove away. Then policemen approached the journalist’s car and informed him that he had to come to the city police department for the administrative case against him. After that, Akhmedyarov was demanded to proceed to the city police department, which the journalist did, accompanied by a police car. The journalist himself connects his detention with his intention to go to Zhanaozen for shooting a report about the situation in the city. On the same day, Akhmedyarov was arrested for 15 days by the administrative court.
