A magistrates’ court in Kamchatka arrested blogger and public figure Alexey Nikolayev for one day for refusing to pay a fine imposed after his participation in an unauthorized rally in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky in support of Alexey Navalny in April 2021. Nikolayev was first fined RUB 10,000, then given 20 hours of public service after refusing to pay the fine, and when Nikolayev refused to comply with the punishment he was fined RUB 150,000. In March, bailiffs detained Nikolayev and asked for him to be arrested as he had no money to pay the fine.
