The judge of the Ekibastuz City Court, S.Zh. Kabdygaliyev, prohibited Ratel.kz correspondent Olga Voronko from participating in an open court hearing on the insult case, explaining that the journalist was thus «violating the rights of a private prosecutor». After the journalist’s post on Facebook, Voronko’s complaint was brought to the attention of the Supreme Court of Kazakhstan, after which the Ratel.kz correspondent was allowed to cover the trial.
