The journalist of the newspaper Vremya Mikhail Kozachkov received threats after his Telegram channel Kozachkov offside published a video of lavish wedding celebrations, which he estimated to have cost around KZT 50 million (approximately USD 100,000). Initially, the journalist received a call from the police asking him to remove the video. After he refused, Kozachkov started receiving threats from strangers who promised to delete the Telegram channel if he did not delete the video. On July 2, after leaving his home, the journalist found his car scratched up and insults written on the door. «The car was parked in a parking pocket, next to other cars, but they were not touched. Therefore, I conclude that someone purposely took revenge on me. I connect this crime with my professional activities, and more specifically, with the publication by me of a wedding video of the son of a high-ranking police officer», — writes Kozachkov.
