The Ostankinsky District Court of Moscow fined journalist Andrey Arkhangelsky RUB 50,000 under the article on «discrediting» the army (Article 20.3.3 of the Code of Administrative Offences of the Russian Federation) for his article in Novaya Gazeta «No Words, Only Blanks». It says that the jury of the «Word of the Year» contest has chosen the word «war» as such, and the expression of the year — «special military operation». Arkhangelsky called the word «denazification», which was nominated in the category «anti-language», «an attempt to hide behind an expression that once had a real meaning». According to the court, Arkhangelsky’s article was aimed at «forming a false opinion about the true aims and tasks of the special military operation, the aim of which is demilitarisation and denazification for the maintenance of international peace and security».
