The national telecommunications operator, Kazakhtelecom, sent pre-trial notices to the editors of Vecherny Almaty and KazTAG news agency. Kazakhtelecom demands to publish a refutation of the information distributed in the article «Unscrupulous Operator: Kazakhtelecom Engages in Questionable Business in the Communications Market» (Vecherny Almaty, 23.06.2022). The article reports that the editorial boards of Vecherny Almaty and Almaty Akshamy newspapers received Internet service at 8 megabits per second at blatantly inadequate rates. KazTAG quoted this publication. If the media do not comply with the telecoms operator’s demands, Kazakhtelecom has warned that it will take legal action to protect its rights.
