S. Naumtsev, who was sentenced to life imprisonment in 2014 for the murder of a 15-year-old schoolgirl, filed a lawsuit against the editors of the newspapers Diapazon and Evrika with a civil court in Aktobe for the protection of his honor and dignity. He believes that the media disseminated inaccurate and defamatory information about him in publications in 2013 and demanded compensation for moral damage of KZT 500,000 (about USD 1,000), removal of all his photos from the media, and publication of a refutation.
