On December 20, the court sanctioned the arrest of Mikhail Kozachkov, author of the Telegram channel Kozachkov offside and correspondent of the newspaper Vremya, for two months. The journalist was detained on December 18. According to the Financial Monitoring Agency, the journalist is suspected of aiding an organized criminal group in carrying out raids and spreading deliberately false information. The arrest for two months was motivated by the fact that one of the charges brought against Mikhail Kozachkov is related to state secrets. Colleagues and human rights activists believe that the journalist is facing repressions for his professional activities. It is also reported that the journalist's flat was searched. His lawyer Igor Pan told Nege.kz that after the search, the journalist was taken away for questioning. He was taken to the temporary detention center for 48 hours.
