The website 24.kg was under the threat of blocking in Kyrgyzstan. As journalists learned, the authorities sent a letter to hosting and Internet service providers, as well as telecommunications operators. It says that by the decision of the Ministry of Culture, the work of the website or pages of 24.kg must be suspended for two months. In their letter, the officials refer to the Law «On untrustworthy (false) information». However, the letter does not specify what kind of publication was the reason for blocking. Earlier, Minister of Culture Azamat Zhamankulov reported that the department received «the first complaint about the publication in the social networks». As a result, some providers blocked the website 24.kg for about two hours. When the media applied to the Ministry of Culture for a comment, they said that the decision to block the website had already been withdrawn.
