The Novaya Gazeta news service stopped its work on the night of March 5. The editorial office stated that Novaya Gazeta would temporarily give up the format of its news reporting under the threat of criminal prosecution of journalists. Novaya Gazeta decided to continue working under military censorship. Materials about the war in Ukraine were removed from the website. On March 16, the news service resumed its work. Novaya Gazeta adopted «new editorial standards, which will allow it to formally follow the requirements of the Russian authorities» and «not get blocked and not end up in the colonies.» On March 28, Novaya Gazeta announced that it was suspending the newspaper’s website, networks, and print version, «until the end of the "special operation on the territory of Ukraine"».
