Former deputy of the National Assembly of Armenia Nikolay Baghdasaryan filed a lawsuit with the Yerevan Court of General Jurisdiction against Zhoghovurd Daily Newspaper LLC, demanding a public apology and compensation for the damage caused to his honor, dignity, and business reputation. The reason for the lawsuit was the article published on August 20, in which the newspaper quoted its sources as saying that Nikolay Baghdasaryan, a former deputy from the ruling My Step faction, could become a candidate nominated by the authorities for the position of the Chairman of the Armenian Chamber of Lawyers and that this was his childhood dream. It was also reported that back in 2014, Ara Zohrabyan (current Chairman of the Chamber of Lawyers) dismissed Nikolay Baghdasaryan from the position of the director of the Chamber, after which Baghdasaryan «took all sorts of dirty measures against Zohrabyan». The lawsuit is being considered.
