The director of the Arasha shelter for victims of domestic violence Margarita Uskembayeva was threatened because of an article by Ratel.kz. In the article, the editorial board said that Arasha was besieged by a police officer, who tried to take away his wife, who escaped from his beatings. After the publication, the editor of Ratel.kz was called by Uskembayeva who asked to remove the material, because a police officer and his wife, armed with knives, came to the shelter. The woman promised to kill herself if the article was not removed. The material was removed from the portal.
