The court found blogger Denis Krivosheyev guilty of committing an administrative offense under Part 2 of Article 73-3 of the Code of Administrative Offences of the Republic of Kazakhstan — libel committed publicly or using the media or communication networks and fined him KZT 500,040. Journalist Dana Ormanbayeva filed a complaint with the police against the blogger. The reason was a video interview for the portal Zonakz, dated 23.10.2020, in which Krivosheyev said that a criminal case was filed against the journalist for illegal detention. In November 2021, the cassation instance of the Supreme Court overturned the court’s decision to find Krivosheyev guilty of libel, sending the case for a new trial to the court of appeal. On December 30, 2021, an order was issued to terminate administrative proceedings for lack of corpus delicti of an administrative offense.
