Lukpan Akhmedyarov was detained by police on the highway on his way to Atyrau, where he had gone with his cameraman and his deputy, Raul Uporov, to prepare a story about the release of political prisoner Max Bokayev. According to Uporov, in order to detain the journalist, the police organized a traffic jam on the highway under the pretext of difficult weather conditions. Immediately after Akhmedyarov's detention, the road was opened.
