On August 4, a group of feminists held a protest action in front of the Khazar District police department. They held posters «The state is the killer of Sevinj!» and poured red paint over the doors of the department. The action was held in connection with the death of Sevinj Maharramova, who was killed by her husband. Police officers took the posters away from the protesters, who responded by chanting the slogan «the murders of women are political in nature». Journalists covering the action reported the detention of activists Gulnara Mekhdiyeva, Sevgi Ismailbeyli, Narmin Shakhmarzade, and journalists Ulviya Ali, Elnara Gasymova, and Nargiz Absamalova.
