Deputy Chairman of the Tashkent City kengash (Council) of People's Deputies Tashpulat Matibayev filed a complaint with the police against the journalist and blogger Nikita Makarenko because of his critical posts on social networks. The reason, he said, was his criticism of the inaction of the kengash in the protection of cultural heritage. On May 11, the law enforcement authorities acquainted Makarenko with the text of the complaint. The publications were passed to the Suleymanova Republican Center of Expertise. There, the experts will make a conclusion about whether the publications contain insults or not. After that, the law enforcement agencies will decide whether to initiate criminal or administrative proceedings. If the decision to prosecute is made, the case will go to court.
