On May 10, Sharifa Murod (Sharifa Madrakhimova), the journalist of the newspaper Buvayda Kuzgusi, published a local farmer’s appeal to president Mirziyoyev on the eve of his visit to the Fergana region. After her post was published, Sharifa said that she was under pressure. According to the journalist, Aziza Solieva, press secretary of the Buvaida District khokimiyat and editor-in-chief of the Buvaida Kuzgusi newspaper, asked her to resign. «The head of the information service of the khokimiyat of the Buvaida District accuses me of tasting salt and spitting in the salt cellar. They ask me to delete the post. Goodbye, freedom of speech», — she wrote. Sixteen hours later, the journalist said that the conflict had been resolved, explaining that «there was a misunderstanding».
