The 73-year-old journalist and writer Zokir Hasanzoda was detained in the Samarkand region. He was taken to the police department. A lawyer was not allowed to see him. His relatives reported that he has diabetes and has suffered two heart attacks. At the time of communication with them, he was not even fed. The reason for the detention was Zakir Hasanzoda's comments about the new monument to Rudaki, the founder of Persian literature, in Samarkand. A few hours later, he was released. The law enforcement officers took a non-disclosure undertaking from the journalist. Zohir Khasanzoda is a member of the Union of Writers and the Creative Union of Journalists, the correspondent of the national newspaper Ovozi Tojik (Voice of a Tajik) in the Samarkand Region, and one of the oldest journalists in Uzbekistan.
