On February 16, 2022, the Simferopol District Court gave a verdict to the Crimean freelance journalist. Realities project of Radio Svoboda Vladislav Yesipenko, who was accused of possession and alteration of a hand grenade. Judge Dlyaver Berberov found him guilty and sentenced him to six years in a penal colony with a fine of RUB 110,000. On August 18, 2022, the Supreme Court of Crimea considered an appeal against the verdict of the Simferopol District Court against the journalist Vladislav Yesipenko. According to Yesipenko’s wife, the court reviewed the decision of the first instance, having reduced the term of imprisonment from 6 to 5 years in a general regime colony.
