On May 8, law enforcers searched Roshchupko's home in Moscow and detained her. Later, authorities charged Roshchupko under Article 239.3 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (participation in the activities of a non-profit organization infringing upon the personality and rights of citizens). On May 10, the Basmanny District Court in Moscow imposed restrictions on the journalist for two months until the end of the investigation: she is not allowed to leave her home between 8 PM and 8 AM, to communicate with the parties in her case, or to send and receive «postal and telegraphic mail». She is only allowed to use the internet and other means of communication for emergency purposes.
