The Moscow Court of Brest sentenced Andrei Kukharchyk, editor-in-chief of the media outlet Virtual Brest, to a year and a half of house arrest on charges of insulting (Article 369 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus) Deputy of the House of Representatives Ihar Marzalyuk in Telegram. This measure presumes the restriction of liberty without transfer to a correctional facility. An inmate on house arrest must abide by specific rules such as going to work or school, being home between 7 PM and 6 AM, and checking in with the police.
