A judge of the criminal court of the Karaganda region prohibited a correspondent of Radio Azattyq, who was present at the open criminal trial, from publishing materials about the trial of the alleged murder of civil activist Galy Baktybayev. The court limited the publicity of the trial to «the jury trial ... because they [publications in the media] may influence the formation of prejudice and a certain opinion among jurors, as well as influence their opinion. The editorial board sees the ban as censorship and obstruction of journalists' professional activities.
