Online activist Saltanat Tashimova was fined KZT 40,000 (about USD 100) for violating election laws – publishing information on social media about a candidate for district akim in the Almaty region before the start of the election campaign. Since Tashimova paid the fine within seven days, the amount of the fine was reduced by 50 per cent.
