On June 21, the head and one of the founders of Kun.uz Mahsudjon Askarov was fined UZS 12,200,000 (USD 1200) by the Chilanzar District Criminal Court for materials of religious content published on the website under Article 184-2 of the Code of Administrative Offences of the Republic of Uzbekistan - "Illegal production, possession, import or distribution of religious material". After the court decision, the Uzbek-language version of the media stopped publishing news. The administrative case was opened as a result of a religious examination of the materials of religious content as part of an Internet monitoring conducted by the Main Department for Combating Terrorism and Extremism of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
