The editorial office of Orda.kz reported the detention of correspondent Bek Baitas. He was filming protests near the Almaty Arena. When detained, Baitas showed his press ID, but the police grabbed him and loaded him into a police van despite this. Police interrogated Bek Baitas for more than half an hour about his involvement with the Democratic Choice of Kazakhstan (an organization banned in Kazakhstan). At the police station, a police officer twisted the journalist's arms and smashed his smartphone.
